Our World Music Association of Serbia refreshes over twenty-five years of work. At the heart of the changes is a new website, launched on March 3, 2026.

It’s not just about a facelift! The World Music Association of Serbia has done more than redesign its website and update its aesthetics - it has introduced a series of positive changes aimed at enhancing, revitalizing, and making its work and sphere of influence even clearer and more recognizable.
The Association’s new website, active since March 3, 2026, is conceived as a platform within the broader scope of the increasingly active Music Information Center of Serbia (MICS). In this context, the two organizations have redefined and better distributed their respective responsibilities.
A key change is that WMAS is stepping back from its media activities, which since 2007 had been visible through the specialized magazine Etnoumlje, thereby granting full editorial sovereignty to the Music Information Center of Serbia, which was officially registered as a media outlet with APR in April 2025. In this framework, MICS will regularly publish news and other types of articles covering the wide spectrum of genres present on Serbia’s music scene.
Additionally, MICS will serve as the primary social media presence for both its own activities and those of WMAS.
Instead of the Etnoumlje magazine, which ceases publication, a new Etnoumlje blog has been launched, led and written by Marija Vitas, also known as Brzonoga, the former editor of the magazine.
The WMAS website will focus on the Association’s own activities, which visitors can explore in sections such as News, Projects, Balkan World Music Chart, and Award, alongside the Etnoumlje blog.
The old WMAS website at https://worldmusic.org.rs/ will remain accessible and active until the end of 2026.
The World Music Association of Serbia (WMAS) has been active for over a quarter of a century. Founded in 2000, its mission is the preservation, research, and contemporary presentation of traditional music and world music.
WMAS holds representative status in culture for the field of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) and operates as a platform connecting and supporting musicians, researchers, institutions, and audiences in Serbia within the domain of traditional and world music.
The Association is involved in publishing, production, field research, education, and the international promotion of Serbian world and traditional music. It is the founder of the Music Information Center of Serbia and an active member of international networks, including the UNESCO ICH NGO Forum and the European Folk Network, thereby contributing to the visibility of the local scene and the development of sustainable models for ICH safeguarding.
